I had changed the password once. The problem is that the ADSL router password needs to be updated everytime. The base password given during installation gets activated everytime the modem is switched off. So it becomes a pain to change the password by invoking '192.168.1.1 and WAN menu' everytime modem is reset (during power failure or whatever reasons).

Good news, I am able to change my password for BSNL BB. The only thing you would require to change the password is your portal id and the password. Now the question from where and how to get the portal id?? Just call your nearest BSNL exchange and given your tel. no to them, they will provide you portal id and password.

Happy surfing :)

The BSNL Dataone connection gives the User Name/ Password error while connecting.

I changed the Service Password from my workplace at and it accepted my old password and then changed to new password.

Even the connection does not take the new password, prompting the same error and failing to connect.

Also if I try to login to 192.168.1.1 as username: admin and password admin, it gives the authorization failed error on the page after 3 attempts. This was not the case when I forst logged in to configure.

Please help with your ideas and experiences.

IMO your modem is messed up, take it to the nearest BSNL exchange they will flush the old settings with new one.

All the sites u click on to...is FORBIDDEN..!!!

so whats the point in changing a password when u cant even open the site. its not at all helpful...poor service

Unknown said...

everything i tried failed.now the actual way to change the password.first of all get the portal id and portal password from ur local exchane or broadband customer service
go to www.dataone.in click on
[usage detail portal]then there in rigt side it [demands portal id and password] then click on [manage passwords].here u can change portal pasword as wel as service password.for changing service password u need to click on change service password there click the search button. in the next window there comes an option"click here" click on it. in next window write ur user id[not the portal id]as{whatever@bsnl.in}and ur local pasword not the portal password and login .there give ur old password and the new one u wish to keep

The shocking part of the service is complete unhelpful attitude of the websites meant to help the customers. As simple a procedure as change of password tests your wits out. Check out please those who manage BSNL. It can's last for long with this level of incompetancy.

How many shitty websites is bsnl maintaining. i doubt even they keep track of all the sites. its plain confusing.

www.dataone.in - this site is not working or opening properly. I have informed my nearest BSNL office, but they said that they can do nothing. I think it is the same problem for many others.
